Learning Through Games

It can be easy to forget the importance of learning through play!  Although this blog is largely devoted to ways in which technology can play a part in home literacy, good old-fashioned paper and pencil games have their place too.  I developed the following document a few years ago to encourage families to practice sight words over the summer; however, the ideas in here can be used whenever you are looking for a quick game or a twist on your usual reading activities. I changed up the document to reflect this!  Students in my class learn five new sight words each week; these activities are perfect for practicing weekly words.
